A cold chain fails quietly: a tanker seal opened at a stop, a cold room door left ajar overnight. You only find out when the product is already lost. Tracking fixes that by making every step report on its own.
What to measure at each step
- Collection. Who brought what, how much, and its quality. RFID on cans and a small edge computer at the centre.
- Chilling. Milk temperature inside the tank, and how hard the compressor is working. An immersion probe and a wireless gateway.
- Transport. Location, tank temperature and door or seal events. A vehicle GPS tracker with temperature tags.
- Plant and packing. Equipment heat and line output. Thermal and vision cameras with edge AI.
- Storage and delivery. Room temperature, door time and every crate on every route.
One record, not seven spreadsheets
The point is not the sensors. It is having every reading land in one system of record you can ask plain questions, like which tankers went above 4°C yesterday?
Measure where the product changes hands. That is where things go wrong.
